Cool Speaker Connection

Hey what about this Black Friday retail sales gig? We have noticed in the past few days that traffic is up 18% and orders are up about the same. I guess we will get some of the run-off of the big retail sales for that Friday. Our business follows, as people discover that they need a cable or a connector to get the job done right. We started a deal of the day on Wednesdays. Our first was for a Cat5e jack for 99 cents. That was a great bargain. We were happy with the results.....sold a bunch of them.

Hey who is this Mike Huckabee guy..... I heard about him on the TV this morning. I decided to look him up..... http://www.mikehuckabee.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Issues.Home
I quickly reviewed his stances on the issues. He does have all the issues covered. I also like what I read. Including his view on taxes and veterens rights. I am not a veteren and know very few of them In fact I know almost no one that has ever seen any action. BUT I think they are the best. They volunteer to take care of our country and rights. Then they get hurt and we let them go to the worst hospitals in the country.....are we kidding?????

I was just speaking to my partner the other day....in fact it was on veterens day and told him that it was funnyy how no one campaigns on the issue of veterens benefits when these guys get hurt. I told him that it was a win-win campaign issue. Everyone always agrees to help the guys and gals that fight for us.....and no one would argue that we should take care of them when they come home and are hurt. This could be a stance that could bring people from both sides of the aisle to select a candidate. It's common sense.

More on my thoughts about this guy when I read up on him.

Anyway.......The cool thing for the day... Speaker Modules

This little device let's you clean up the wall plate area with a snap in connector for speakers. Don't just run the cable on the floor or if you were really being a techie.....run it behind the wall....and then just have it poke through a hole. The wives hate that type of messy install.
They snap into a faceplate and look great.

Cool Wall Mount Bracket

Our construction buildout continues.....slowly. The big Crew they said we would have working here is 1 guy maybe 2 at the best. We expect to get into the new space by December 14th. We have scheduled the furniture people to re-set and deliver the new stuff on that day.....so they better be done.

The dollar keeps falling...I wonder how long it will take for it to really hit the consumer purchasing market. With everything coming from overseas.....the cost of importing is increasing.
I am not sure any of these candidates have the stomach to make the tough choices on spending. When I am fiscally tight.....I stop spending.....the GVT just thinks they can tax more and keep the party going. Looking forward to the new Pat Buchanan book that is being released in January.

OK now to the cool stuff....

Now this product won't wow you, but when I first used it.....I loved it. For you home users that hate a mess.....clean up that wiring nightmare in the basement. God forbid you ever have to add a line or want to change a location of a TV.
This little wall mount bracket has a hinge and lets you mount a patch panel....yes you should be using a patch panel not just plugging into your router. This makes it easy to access and keeps it away from all those little prying fingers. Give us a ring and we can walk you through using any of the products.

Cool Site

Hey Gang-

Life is picking up in the busy department. Basketball started last night for my little man. I was really impressed with the quality of the practice the coach put together. Should be a fun season to watch. Thanksgiving was great. Being from the east coast does not allow us to see the rest of our clan during the Thanksgiving break, so it was just my six for dinner. The new item on the menu was a gluten free pumpkin pie. Found a new gluten free bakery in town. The pie was great. If your not sure what gluten free is then you can hit this site to understand the disease my wife and son have www.celiac.com

I have been visiting this cool site lately www.woot.com If you have not been there, check it out. They sell one item each day....that's it. The funniest part is the terms and conditions. They seem to be having a great time running the business.

Cool Price on Patch Cables

What a great weekend here in Missouri. Cold and crisp for most of the weekend. Took a ride in the convertible....watched some football...went out to dinner....WOW , you may ask....how did I get so much done? NO More Soccer and Football this season. All of the teams I coach (2 soccer 1 football) completed fall play last weekend. It was a great first weekend of lounging.....this weekend, Thanksgiving and then the xmas rush.....It was great when it lasted.

Though for the day.....Don't spend what you cannot afford....
What's with these banks loaning to basically...people who barely can afford to rent. When I bought my first house....1986, it was hard to pass the credit gymnastics. 20% down...God forbid that you BORROWED the down payment. That is now the acceptable.....???? You then needed to prove you had savings and a job that paid well over the bills you had already.

I know people that took out loans that had no business taking them out. Now they are foreclosing. You may ask...so What....It does not affect me....sure it does. It screws up the credit policy for small business, it is now crashing the housing market...the price of YOUR home and lastly, now the politicians want to help bail these idiots out. Unbelievable!
Now for the CTFTD

We just got a boatload of odd size patch cables We are housing them in our Patch Cable Clearance Items For example, we have a 1.5 footer for only .59 and a 4 footer for only .79

Patch cables are not that "cool" but they are a staple that every IT person needs and uses. Cool prices are the very next best thing.

Cool HDMI Switch

Hi Gang-

Lately I have been reading the Greenspan book. That book will really make you feel like a "dumb American" I consider myself of average intelligence and pretty well read. After reading this book however, I felt like I must have been asleep regarding world news for the past 20 years.
The book really goes into detail (BTW.... too much detail....boring, Alan, boring) on how the economies of the world effected different countries. Overall it’s pretty interesting.

I have a 15 year old......getting ready to drive. Since I just got a new car, I kept my old clunker....a 1999 300m so the oldest will have a car to "borrow" from me. My kids still call it the red rocket. Anyway, with 130k on it and never being garaged, the rocket was looking pretty nasty. I decided that I would paint the car so my oldest would not be too ashamed of her "borrowed" ride. (Funny, for the past 2-3 years...I wasn't bothered by it) Anyway....the point is....$350 to paint a car. I can't image how Maaco make money doing this. Now I have not seen the finished work....but $350 paint job will look better then the $0 peel job! We will see!

CSFTD:

Almost everything is now coming with an HDMI port. Unfortunately most TV's only have one HDMI input port. This device, a HDMI Switch will allow you to plug multiple HDMI components into your TV.
It will allow up to 4 input devices. It has a remote....OH GREAT....one more remote for the kids to lose..... Check it out at

Well.....back to the salt mine

Cool S-Video Snap In Module

Well...the feet are up on the desk this morning....no I am not just screwing off as usual....nope...the old calf muscle on the right leg gave out at my basketball ball game this morning. Great. It's funny when your 10....jam a finger...put a splint on it and within days the splint falls off and your fine. Same with a pulled muscle...hours later and your fine. Not at 46....jammed my finger a couple of years ago....it took a whole year before I didn't feel a twang. With this latest fiasco....I am hoping to play Friday, I am sure I won’t.

A friend of mine told me this a couple of weeks ago. As children grow up.......parents want to see their children everyday.....kids want to see their parents once in awhile.

Interesting as my oldest hits 15....I am starting to see this very sad truth unfold.

OK Back to the CTFTD....cool thing for the day.

Snap in modules for faceplates are not new. But if you're a do it yourselfer and are new at it....then they are pretty cool. These little devices allow you to clean up the cabling that comes from the wall. It also allows you to use pre-terminated cables....cheaper.....easier....versus terminating cables in the field yourself.

The one I am featuring today is an s-video snap in feed through coupler. Take a peak at this link: http://www.showmecables.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4493

There are a lot of different connections and configurations to handle all of your connection needs on the site. They work great and they really make the outlets look clean versus a hole with cables coming out from the wall!!
Gotta run....gotta ice down the calf.

Cool Field Termination Block for VGA

Well I am back from my 4 day hiatus from blogging. With a day off on Friday and contractors here all day yesterday, I was away from all of you! I am sure you are jusrt craving this information!

Soccer parents nationwide are starting to celebrate the closing of the season. We ended our season for both teams over the weekend. I am not sure what I will do with all the extra time next weekend. Coaching takes up a lot of time, but it's worth it.

2 Points of View....The world according to OCG:
Why is it that Prison Break cannot write more than a handful of shows per season....it's really annoying?
I am not sure I like any of the candidates for president. If we do not like them now...imagine after we look at them for the next year and all the moles start to appear!!

OK...... Now for the Cool Stuff for the Day.

Many people are running monitor cables to projectors along with the DVI/HDMI and component. One of the issues with monitor cables is the size of the connectors. Many people cannot fish the cable with the connector through their conduit or wall. They can only manage to get the cable unconnectorized through the opening. In the past you would have to terminate the connector in the field. That would mean....knowing what you were doing and soldering the connector. Most of the times, you needed to hire someone to complete the task.
Today there are a few ways to handle this issue. This little device lets you terminate a HD connector without soldering.

http://www.showmecables.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=4073

It also goes into a steel faceplate to be mounted on the wall at either end of the run.

Let me know what you think!

Cool USB Mini Hub

Good Morning-

6am basketball...that's breakfast for champions for a 46 year old. Wouldn't be so bad....if I knew how to play. Just started this game at age 40 or so.......great exercise though. Funny how you start to worry about your health as you get older.

Business wise....the furniture people will be here today to break down the stuff....construction starts tonight. Can't wait to see our two week program!

Cool Item of the Day.....This little USB Mini Hub is really cool. By now everyone has about 3-5 things they need to plug into their computer....almost all through USB. This little baby allows you to expand your number of USB connections. No more switching plugs.....

OK ...now I am going to get the techie that states.....Most computers now have a bunch of USB ports.....Thanks for the info Einstein...no kidding.....but they are usually on the back....now sometimes the front....but still under the DESK....... I put this little hub right next to my phone and then it's easy to plug additional devices into the unit.

Well, enough writing....gotta go sell some cables!

For $15 it's a great little helper.

Cool New Patch Panel

Hi Gang-

It's been a busy day today. We are about to break through the walls to expand our facility. We have to move all of our employees into offices with others, the lunch room and the conference room. Tight squeeze for the next few weeks. Daily showers are mandatory for duration. They tell me it will be two weeks....two weeks????? Did anyone see The Money Pit.

... Ok a little more background; I have 4 kids and have been married for 19 years. I am happily living the suburbia life.........mini van, soccer on the weekends and believing that Olive Garden is a big night out!

Back to the cool stuff..... One of my vendors...(or as you fortune 50 consultants say "partners") came by to visit last week. He was showing me his new "Patented" patch panel" I love it when these vendors play the patented card....especially when it's being made in China.....no worries, someone won't copy it !!!!

Either way....this is a cool new feature for the patch panel market. The navlight patch panel allows you to locate the jack without toning every connection on the patch panel. Wow that really didn't explain it. This is the scoop....after you install your jacks and punch them down to the patch panel.......now you need to label them. Basic plan is to tone and test to see which jack in the offices tones out to which jack in the patch panel. Ok it’s easy to find the jack in the office..... Connect the Navlight device in the jack in the office....and it lights up a led over the jack on the patch panel. No more hard to hear tones....or toning each jack on the panel to find the right one.

We are starting to carry the product on my site http://www.showmecables.com/
Until Tomorrow ........

Opening Comments

OK- we start....Welcome to my blog. I will start with a little background and then give you the reason for the blog.

I am a 46 year old guy running a small tech firm in St. Louis. Funny, I am from the East coast and never thought I would live in the Midwest. That's a story in itself!

http://www.showmecables.com/ is our site. The actual name of the company is Integrated Network Cable. We have had a lot of success selling cables and connectors on the site...yeah I know....boring....but it's actually pretty cool. Ok, so it's not like an underground cult or anything, but there are a lot of people that enjoy reading about patch cables.....really!!!

To a 46 year old guy who can barely program his cell phone....the optimization world of websites is like a dark tunnel. So I get this idea....If I start a blog and I will become the best optimizer in the world.

So the reason for the blog is simple....to show off some neat stuff that we see in our industry and to help optimize the site. We will see how it goes.....You will also get my view of the world....free of charge

So Buckle up......and enjoy the ride.

Tomorrow....a really cool new patch panel.....

Can't wait can ya !!
