As I sit hear watching YouTube....(I am watching the Republican debate from the 31st) I am starting not to like the Huckster...the one thing I can't stand is for candidates not to answer questions and then pontificate their views.

Huckerster is asked what he thinks of Putin....I want to know, does he answer the question? Then Mitt takes the question and answers it....done. Good job Mitt.
You have to watch both clips to see it. Hucks anser is at the end of 7-9 and Mitts is in the beginning of 9 of 9.
On Wednesdays we run a Humpday special. We send out emails to the base and let them but some item at a ridiculous price. This week we sold cable ties. This week was the first week that we actually sold out of the item. Come to find out.....probably should not of had them on special. These were not actually overstock....oops.
Little time to blog today....it's snowing here today....maybe later when it slows down.

Not so Cool Bunch of Stuff and a cool antenna!
Good Morning gang-
Jessica did fracture her ankle...hairline on the growth plate. She has a soft boot and crutches.....dumb dogs!
Yesterday we discussed the crazy wording of a "tax rebate". Today we discuss the wording: The Rockwood School Board voted unanimously to place a $74.5 million, no-tax increase bond issue on the April 8 ballot.
Let me first say that I am behind the Rockwood school district on this bond issue. Our schools are excellent and are the main reason we moved into the area. The bond also is not for a bunch of pork. A majority of it is to repair/upkeep the present system and to add security features (that's another issue altogether). I didn't see many things that were over the top.
With that said........this "no-tax increase" marketing ploy just makes me crazy. I have spoken to many people who believe that this is not costing residents any money. Those Taxes will not go up due to the bond issue. These are the same people that probably think that the sub prime loans were a good idea a few years ago!
Plain and simple....if we did not have to spend the 74 million on the schools next year....we would still have 74 million. They try to explain that the rate will not go up....ok....but I guess if we didn't spend 74 million THE RATE WOULD OF GONE DOWN.......There is no free lunch. We live in the Rockwood school district. The main function of local government should be education. They do a great job here....just don't try to perfume the pig and tell me that it does not effect the taxes.
With the super bowl right around the corner....we are trying to capitalize on all the people that wait till the last moment. We sell some really cool HDTV Antennas. It took me less then 30 minutes to set the thing up. One of them is inside a picture frame! The really cool thing is that the reception is better then cable and satellite and it's the signal is free. More on HDTV another day.

Cool Map
I was checking out the dates of primaries and came across this very cool map to keep track of when they are all taking place.
http://www.npr.org/news/specials/election2008/2008-election-map.html#/primaries/
OK it's from the NPR site....don't get your hopes up...I have been "listening"......to NPR for over a decade and still do not do the liberal dance.
Next big one is tomorrow with all the transplants from NYC in FLORIDA. I am hoping that McCain gets slaughtered! Huck and Mitt need to getterdone. The St. Louis Dispatch ran a pretty straight story on Mitt this morning. There was a dig late in the article stating that Mitt has flip flopped on some issues in his career. They mentioned that he was not anti abortion and anti gay marriage in the days he was fighting Kennedy for his seat. I will need to get more info on that. I would be surprised by it, only because the Mormons I know are usually not cafeteria type religious people.....picking and choosing.
On the local Front....Denise's boyfriend has made the news again. If you do not know about the boyfriend....let me explain. When St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke was in Chesterfield, Denise went to one of his luncheons. This is where she felt it necessary to Hug the Arch Bishop....yup you heard it...hug the Arch Bishop. I almost had to go over and smack the guy...only kidding Mom. Anyway Burke is definitely not a wall flower regarding Catholic issues. He went after the St Louis University's Basketball coach for appearing at a Clinton rally and speaking on his support for abortion rights. It is after all a Jesuit University. If you want to read more:

Now for the commercial...... Check out mike's new mailer for all kinds of cool stuff for TV. Don't want to have crummy reception for the Giant blow out!!!! Check out the HDMI cables.

Cool Talk with Michael Smerconish
I was listening to talk radio (as always) this afternoon. Michael Smerconish was in for O'reilly. He reviewed his piece that he wrote in the Philadelphia weekly. It was obvious to me what he was trying to say. Strangely enough, the first two callers were trying to tell him that he should be more open to the Mormon faith.
Take a look at his piece. It was interesting. The third caller hit it on the head. He stated that every religion looks "kooky" from the outside and that faith never can be put under the secular microscope and look like it's normal.
http://www.philly.com/dailynews/columnists/michael_smerconish/20080124_Michael_Smerconish__IM_A_MAN_OF_FAITH__YOURE_A_CRACKPOT.html
I liked this article. We could all be a little more open to others!

Cool Tax Rebate?????
I am still trying to get all the facts on these candidates. Since the Missouri primary is coming up, I am starting to review more information. My time is limited so I am waiting so I do not have to read up on guys that are quitting....i.e. Freddy.
This is an interesting thought on the tax refund. I am not saying it's the right thing to do, just a different idea. Here is some of my takes on a tax rebate:
Is it a rebate to begin with....or should we call it a citizen bonus. I am sure that I will not be getting a "tax refund" although I pay taxes. Most candidates want to income limit the "refund" Let’s get it into the hands of people that will readily spend it. Low income are part of the recipients....really no problem with that...it's true. I get $900 in May.....probably will go in the bank. So I understand the whys....just don't call it a tax refund...a majority of those folks do not pay any federal income tax. You cannot "refund" something to someoe who has not paid into the system.
Next...we do need a stimulus package and the Government is in charge of that! After reading Greenspan's "book" ...ok the guy's arm is tired from being in the self appreciation club, however, he does really expose Government's role in the economy. Like it or not!
The Huckster has a point.....other countries do finance or debt...China being a major player...so the chances that they will be financing the "refund" is not that outlandish.....how about some spending cuts to pay for it...oh what a novel idea..... Most people with a $900 check will go and spend it on....Chinese goods....another assumption that has merit. One of the issues of building the roads.....does not immediately stimulate the economy. This is the type of debate, however, that we should be having!
More on this later.... onto the cool stuff.
In the past 3-4 months we have upgraded all of our employee's computers to dual monitors. It's a $350-$400 investment. It has been the biggest productivity gainer we have put in place for the office worker. Here is a link to Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/twomonitors.mspx
It explains what you need to do to convert your present computer. One concern....make sure you can get the card for your specific computer. Out of the 15 units we upgraded....1 of them could not be done. It was one of those micro case Dell machines.
Good Luck

Cool Racks
It is so cold outside. Crazy, it must be in the single digits. I cannot stand the cold weather.
Two things.....
Matt Blunt says NO GO to a 2nd term. Says he does not have the passion anymore and that he accomplished what he set out to do. Good for him. I don't know a lot about Matt. I liked that he stood tall with cuts in spending....and took a smear from the press. I hear that Missouri is in pretty good shape financially. Could be that he presided through boom times in the US....I think it's a combination of that and good fiscal responsibility. I say that because my boy George W had the same boom and stuck us with more debt then we need ....especially now going into a recession. I do no doubt we see Matt again....in the senate perhaps.
In the INC world we are still in construction and moving inventory from one section of the warehouse to the next. I have found a really cool rack. Sams Club sells them.
They are the Gorilla Rack They are 6 feet tall with 6 shelves. They are really sturdy and best of all they are CHEAP. They are only $59.88 each. Compare that to at least $150 each everywhere else for similar products. Funny thing, you cannot even find these racks on the manufacturer’s web site. They must build them directly for Sam’s.
Well, I gotta go and unload 10 of these beasts from the van.
Pray for my back!

Paying for cool blogs?
Since starting this blog I have hired a blogging firm to post hyperlinks in different blogs. This firm actually just organizes and brokers the blog. They get some guy who has a blog to write a small article about us and stick in a hyperlink....pretty straight forward. It's expensive....but I was thinking to have a bunch of hyperlinks on PR pages of 3-5 would be very helpful in this optimization thing.....I just got off the phone with the rep. He tells me that 45 links were blogged in the past few weeks. I check the first two: The first one is a blogspot with a PR of 0 and then next is a .com blog with a PR of 0. Not a great start. I will see where this takes me. I am sure there will be a bunch of PR 3,4 and 5's.
Cat5e Cable business is a little quiet this morning. No worries, we will hit full stride by mid day!
We have started really sellimng a bunch of these wall mount brackets They are fairly inexpensive and are really easy to set up. They also have a hinge so if you need to get at the back after installation you just swing it out.
Hey...how about Fred dropping from the race. He never got any speed and his critics were fierce in slapping him back. Hope he goes back tom Law and Order. Huck is nopw emailing me everyday to ask for $25. Super Tuesday should be the deciding factor.

NOT COOL spreadsheet
We import from china numerous items. It's usually pretty straight forward if you think....language barrier.....Chinese New Year....let's close the country for 3 weeks....and the language barrier. Never mind we bring in 150,000 items spread over hundreds of SKU....what a pain. It took me two full days to analyze the sku's monthly run rate and in stock status. Then put it all together in a spreadsheet that must total to 50 cubic feet from a number of different Chinese vendors.....my head almost blew up. Now I just wait for 12 weeks to get all that stuff.....and hope we do not run short until then!!
I speak to a lot of people that need to connectorize in the field. Mostly f and bnc connectors If you have a little extra money and you do not want to take forever to connectorize; I would suggest these cool compression connectors. They are extremely easy to use. The extra money is in the tool. You will pay $45 bucks or so....but what a time saver.

NorthEast Superbowl.....cool
Being from the Northeast, you would figure I would be happy with the teams in the Superbowl....Not. I am happy about the Giants. I have been a Giant fan since I was a kid. I grew up in southeast CT where everyone was either a jets or Giants fan. NOBODY like the patriots. I wish someone had knocked them out of the Superbowl I am getting tired of looking at Belichick's disgruntled look. Will this guy ever smile and be happy? Giants are underdogs by 13 1/2 as of this morning. I hope it's a surprise and NE gets the pants beat off them.
The Giant game was great......especially from my vantage point.....the coach. What idiots would go and freeze for 3-4 hours and sit at the top of Lambou field. Crazy!!!
Business keeps chugging along. Our orders at www.showmecables.com are still increasing in both order count and order size. This blog was supposed to help optimize the site. Google spiders the site....I still have no page rank...probably cause I am the only one that reads this dribble.
Have a great day and stay warm!

Cool Day
It's amazing how the day can fly in a small company. Most of our employees are wearing several hats. As we have grown, we have been able to have enough work that a person could specialize in the position. For example, we now have a full-time shipper, A full-time purchasing agent...in the past these people handled a wide array of different tasks. The owners however....are still managing the different hats.
Today is a great example....
Started with optimization for the website.....had to do some editing for a directory
Then off to the accounting department....that's me...to finish off the reconciliation of Decembers numbers. Finished there....off to help in the warehouse to help move shelves for an hour.
lunch with my partner to discuss not only the meaning of life but what needs to get done to keep this baby humming along.
Afternoon is filled with credit approvals, working with my importer on the contents of the next container and lastly back to optimization....I have been slowing putting www.showmecables.com into as many free directories as I can. And of course....I am blogging to you...of that's right...nobody is reading this dribble.
Well...I gotta change hats and do something else....I love this place!

Havn't seen you in awhile....
Blogging today reminds me of the Dave mason song "we just disagree" styarts out like....havn'yt seen you in a while
Well showmecables is really busy these days. The construction is still going on. We now have moved to the warehouse. The electricians are in today. They have a couple of days work to complete. I think we will be complete by month end. That would mean having the new chairs in place and all the inventory moved to the new shelves.
The presidential race is inertesting. You have Hillary getting spanked in Iowas and then winning in NH. McCain is hanging ios head on the granite state. Rudy is in the muck and Huck is ...at times steppig on his own tounge.... Mitt is around the edges....and of course forget the $400 haircut dude....he's toast. Wait til he loses in his home state of SC.
We just added a whole new section on the web today. The section covers shielded patch cables It's a specialty product when it comes to patch cables but we are selling 17 lengths and 10 colors.....wow that's a lot of SKUs
Hope we sell a lot!

70 degrees yesterday....that's not cool
YUP....St Louis hit 70 degrees yesterday. The last time it was that hot on Jan 6th....about 70 years or so ago...
Always weird to have one of those crazy warm days in the middle of wuinter. I even opted for the top down on the convertible.....what a great ride.
Our office is put back together now....more construction in the warehouse....but we are getting there.
When the techs came in to do the wiring.... we upgraded everything to CAT6 The tech also used that cool patch panel I discussed a few months ago. It's called the Navilight patch panel. It cut our install time down dramatically.
I get psyched when I write about what I think is cool.....and then the techs use it and agree! Not so old after all.

The Old Guy is Back
Good Morning and Happy New Year
Been back in Connecticut for the past week. Spent some time with all the relatives...great time.
BIG News today....Hillary takes a hit ...John Edwards beat her.....that's what a $400 haircut will do for you. BTW I am not against $400 haircuts...l.I wish I had enough hair to spend that much....but do not run on a "I am a poor boy" soapbox...it just doesn't cut. I am ok with the guy being rich....all the candidates are.
Bigger news....my man Huck kicked some butt....and that sneering Rudy bit the dust. I posted earlier last m0nth about this guy. I am still not 100% sure of him. His immigration and tax policy, although popular, just do not seem to make common sense in implementation. You cannot just end the IRS and throw out 5 million people.....it would send the economy into a spin.
Anyway......remember that cool usb hub I wrote about? Well my nephew wanted one for Christmas and I brought him one from ....you guessed it http://www.showmecables.com/ (nice plug). That and the gift card from the UCONN co-op did the trick.
How about my Michigan .....best bowl game of the season....GO BLUE
Until we read again
