It has been an Interesting few days around here. I’ve gained a new responsibility that could
be as intense as a new child, I’ve lost an old friend, I’ve seen two of my
beloved teams crushed the competition .
On Friday my Business partner, John and I, bought a commercial
building to house our business. I can
only imagine the complexities of being a commercial landlord will be. On Saturday I sold my Simplicity Regent 12
tractor. My old friend had been with me
for over 18 years. There had been many
hours spent together drinking beer, cutting the lawn and just having my peace
for those few precious hours each weekend.
Lastly, Michigan beats Notre Dame, Rams smack down the Arizona Cardinals…..nothing
else needs to said.
What a weekend, not sure it could get any better. But of course it does……
Today I celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary with the love
of my life, Denise. Our life together started
31 years ago this fall. It all started
at Mass when I spotted the hottest freshman in her yellow sweatpants going up
for communion. I never knew that by
attending weekly Mass I would hit the jackpot.
We have spent the next 3 decades building our lives together. We have
had a great run and been blessed with good health, great kids, strong faith and
great friends. All married couples speak
of the ups and downs in their lives, but in the real scheme of things….when you
see the issues so many other families have to overcome….. we have only had a few ripples thrown our way.
I have loved our life together. Denise is a smart beautiful women with the
best sense of humor. Her quick smile and
laugh attracts many friends. She has
raised four outstanding children…..we dads want to take credit and be part of
that process, but as I have always said, Momma bear knows how to raise her
cubs. There is not a bigger supporter of
our kids than Denise. A cheerleader, a counselor
and of course a disciplinary, she has to wear many hats….sometimes switching
them in a moment’s notice.
Congratulations to you Denise, you have put up with a Foley man for 31 years……I
can only hope that you have enjoyed this ride as much as I have. I hope you
know you have as loyal a friend in me as I know I have in you. The person in this world that will always be
the one that is there.
So as my weekend came to a close, I sat in church……. looked
around and found the hottest babe and thanked the good Lord that she was
sitting next to me.
