Gas Tax....idiots...not cool!

I was just listening to NPR explain the new brain child of a bi-partison blue ribbon committee.  These yucks need more money to keep our infrastructure from falling apart.  The present gas tax has not been raised in a decade and with inflation and the economy the taxes cannot meet the demand.

So it seems pretty easy to me....raise the tax on gas (we are raising tax on everything else ...why not?)  No that would be too easy.  No they have come up with a scheme that would have people pay taxes on their miliage.  Thus the people using their vehicles more would pay more taxes....doesn't sound that bad...right?  Really, you idiots, that's what the gas tax does now.  What do they think people do with the gas? drink it?  The more gas you buy....the more you have driven.  But no that's too easy  lets complicate things and try to get everybody to report their milage...oh I forgot...they want to put a chip in all cars..to track you...oh yeah that will work.  Are these people from this planet?

Then NPR in their infinite liberal way need to give Obama a quick pat on his back.  They go on to say that the Obama administration rebuked this suggestion.  That not only did they not like the milage issue but they also thought that raising the tax on gas during a recession would be a bad idea.

OK, I am almost in a lather right now......does NPR think we are idiots?  Of course Obama does not want to raise the gas tax.  Think about it.....it's one of the only non progressive taxes we pay.  This along with sales tax is fair for everyone...you use it, you pay....BUT WHOA NELLY it's not Obama's favorite robin hood tax.    This guy wants the "rich"who already pay 70% of all federal  taxes to pay more!  No taxes in a recession????? really Barrack?  this from the man who just signed the largest tax/spending bill ever in US History.

This guy is bad news.  He will ruin the capitalistic state.  In fact, that is what he wants to do.   Mark my words!

Bill O'Reilly.....goodbye....not cool!

Today was Bill O'Reilly's last day on the radio. I will miss listening to him for the 15-20 minutes I was on the road for lunch each day. If you never heard him, you missed a great opportunity to listen to a middle of the road conservative talk show.

He was Denise's favorite.

Thanks Bill....for looking out for all of us!

I do not like big butts and I cannot lie....NOT COOL!

Here is another pet peeve of mine......naked guys in a locker room who have no self awareness of what they are doing.......OK, I play racquetball twice a week at the local YMCA. Now , It really does not bother me that guys are walking around in their birthday suits....going back and forth to the shower and the locker rooms....although I must admit, even in my own home I put a towel around me...OK so I am not an exhibitionist.

A few rules about being in the locker room:

If your gonna stand there and talk to your buddy, put a towel on, cripes sake I am trying to get by you and you are just yammering on and on blocking the exit.... naked as a jay bird.

Second, Don't stand around and brushing your teeth naked....that's nasty

Thirdly, and most importantly, DON'T be bending over in the middle of the hallway.....picking at your toes...the last thing I want to do is squeeze by your fat %@% to get out of the locker room.

My buddy Dave always laughs at me for my "phobias" but really....put a towel on.

Obama's plan.....not so cool

Check out this article from the Wall Street Journal. Although it's an opinion piece, the basic facts don't lie.

Good stuff.

Obama reducing the National Debt?????...it would be cool...but NOT

OK the president is giving a speech tonight on how we now must start to plan to reduce the deficit. This is a little strange coming from a guy who just pushed through the largest spending bill EVER signed in our country's history.

Coming from a guy that is already on the path of national health care.....this costs money.

You will hear a lot of "stuff" that sounds good tonight.....America will need to buckle down, we need to cut unneeded expenses....squeeze out waste....he will actually sound like a fiscal conservative. Mark my words!

What he will also talk to is TAXES. If he doesn't then he is really a big liar. There is no way that this country will be able to pay for all of his socialist programs without taxing the country to death. He will speak about taxing the "rich" The "rich" already are taxed to death with 40-50% of their income going to Federal, State and local sales taxes and property taxes. He will say it's only fair!!!!! The guy who has scrapped his way to an income level....the same guy who risked all his income....all his future on an idea.....he's the guy that will be effected, for 48% of the population.. your boss....."According to SEPH data, on average in 2005, just over 5.0 million employees on payroll, or 48 percent of the total private sector labour force, worked for small enterprises (those with fewer than 100 employees"

One more thing about that "rich" guy.....he probably does not take most of that "income" in a paycheck. He leaves it in the business and continues to risk that capital to buy inventory, to pay the bills...your pay check, to be able to extend terms to customers.

So before you buy into the whole fairness issue....think about what your asking for.....

He wants America to buckle down...Bull...he is a tax and spend socialist that wants everybody in America to have the same....let's make it fair.......he should read a book on Marx....and then ask what country has done well under socialism and communism. None....unless you think Cuba would be a great place to live.

Spoiled Kids.....funny...cool

Thanks to Denise for emailing me one of the funniest things I have read in a while.

Please excuse some of the language....left out it would not of been as funny.

SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!! When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears With their tedious diatribes about how hard things were.

When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning Uphill... Barefoot.. BOTH ways. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, There was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of Thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my Childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! I hate to say it, but you kids today.... you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter, with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3' s or Napsters! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!

We didn't have fancy stuff like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, Your mom, your boss, your Bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony PlayStation video Games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like Space Invaders and Asteroids. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen...Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a Little book called a TV Guide to find out what was On! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was n Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to hear something up we had to use the stove ... Imagine that! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Regards,The over 30 Crowd

A Good Heart.....cool

If you have not read the story about the basketball team "not taking"n two technical foul shots....read this

Great story. Great to hear a good story amongst all of the junk that appears in the paper and on the web.

The visit continues...the tour, lunch and Mass...cool

We then went on the walking tour. This was the least impressive part of the day. Not because the campus was not impressive...just that they left only an hour to do this and you cannot see the entire campus in an hour. We were rushed and the tour guide although very very nice....was more excitement and "coolness" then substance.

We then attended noon mass. They have thee mass's a day. The noon mass was as crowed as any Christmas mass I have ever attended. Standing room only. It was also the loudest mass I have ever attended. The singing and the responses were deafening. We both enjoyed the mass. It was then off to lunch. The food was college food, but there was lots of choices and surprisingly tasty.

The last class for the day was Christian morals class. It took me 45 minutes to figure out what this guy was talking about. About 5 minutes in I passed a note to Taylor that let her know that I was probably not smart enough to be in this class. He was teaching about Beatitude. If you are again in the dark on what this is.....I am not that far ahead of you. I had heard of the beatitudes....kinda knew what they were....but how this guy was explaining things I was totally lost. Not to my surprise, Taylor knew exactly what the guy was talking about....a little humbling. I was so lost that I used my trusty IPhone and looked up the definition.....then it started to come together,

When class ended we went over to the book store for a souvenir and then drove back to the airport.

Overall a great experience. Taylor loved the school a counts.

The Visit continues...classes...actually cool!

Our visit consisted of an hour interview with the recruiter, a psych class, a walking campus tour, noon mass, lunch and finally another class, a theology class.

The psych class was about child development. The guy was very interesting. The thing I noticed was the two comments about God in the classroom. Back up....three comments. The first was the prayer that was said to start class. The second was an off hand remark about national; press coverage. He pointed out that not all stories are published in the main stream press. He gave the example of how the press never really has covered any stories regarding the incorrupt saints. OK if you have no idea what I am talking about....join the club. I never heard of this stuff either. Check the link. It's how some Saint's bodies never decompose!!

He made another comment that was a direct compliment to God. The thing is.....it was not overbearing, he was not beating a drum. He was just setting the baseline of his beliefs. It was very effective. It was opposite of most schools in the US. Check out this book University Of Destruction This is a great read. A must for all parents that worry about what may be taught at our universities. The guy does go a little too far near the end of the book, but it's worth the read.

Taylor loved the class. She was very impressed that the guy had written the book he was teaching and that he really knew the material.

The visit continues...swing dancing???...cool

The stay at the Motel 8 was fine. It was really clean and they had a free continental breakfast in the morning.

I picked Taylor up at 8 am and heard her stories of the previous evening.

I was a little nervous because she had texted Jessica around 7 and said she was bored. Liz had some homework and there was really nothing for Taylor to do.......It was around 9:30 and Liz started making phone calls regarding the meeting time to go dancing that night. Since Taylor is a sleepy baby....she normally is out by that time at night...she started to think what the heck? They ended up going big band swing dancing at the student center. This is a weekly activity the college offers. She had an outstanding time. She was so excited about it. She was asked to dance 5 times and a couple of the guys flipped her up in the air (oh great).

She could not believe how much fun it was and how polite the guys were. She had had dinner at the caf....or as Taylor says...the Cafeteria..."no one calls it the caf dad" Funny how during the tour, the guide kept referring to it as the CAF

Anyway, she said the food was good.

More in another post.................

First college visit.....cool!

Well another page turns in our lives. Taylor and I flew to Pittsburgh Sunday to visit Franciscan University

The University is 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh in Steubenville Ohio. We started by dropping Taylor off at the dorms. We were fortunate enough to meet a student at the mall at Christmas time. She invited Taylor to stay with her during her visit. I took a quick look around the dorm....nothing special...it's a dorm room. They are small and crowded, just like I remembered. After a few minutes I left Taylor to "experience " dorm life with Liz. The real tour of the college was the following day.

What to do in Steubenville Ohio......nothing. I stayed at the motel 8...$79. It was very clean...but it was a motel....looked and smelled of a motel. Tim the front desk clerk gave me the layout of the town. Tim was a townie, growing up in the area. He was about my age. Scary thing....he had no idea how big the town was. Anyway, he gave me the basic directions. It was still light out so I just drove around for an hour or so. The town has about 20,000 residents. It's an old Mill town....that has seen better days. The down town was really run down. The biggest feature was all of the murals they had painted on the abandoned buildings and all the churches.. In two square blocks there must of been 6-7 different churches.

I had some pasta a beer at the only place that was open in downtown. Tim had suggested the place. Food was OK, beer was cold. The bartender and waitress were friendly enough.....although I was the only customer in the place. It was their slow night!

More on the trip in another post!

Good example of the I wants....not cool

The kid in this video actually was praised by the locals in Florida....he in fact got a small job performing the opening duties on the air for the local baseball team.

The thing is.....listen to his question. He wants to know if Obama plans to get him health care on account he works for McDonald's. This kid is the perfect example of what is wrong with the country. If he does not like his employers benefits, leave! If everyone agreed with him....they would all leave and his employer would obviously have to change things to keep employees. That is the free market. To expect President Obama to influence...or make an employer give benefits to all their employees is ridiculous.

To give President Obama his due....he did in fact answer the question...in a round about way....but if you are listening...he says that he wants to have universal health care AVAILABLE to everyone. The key word is available.

College Visit.....cool

Taylor and I are off to her first college campus visit this weekend. We will be visiting Franciscan University. It is a little scary to think I am starting this part of my life. We are flying in on Sunday afternoon. She will be staying with a student that Denise and I met at the local Christian book store. The next day she takes a tour, visits two classes, attend mass and has lunch.

The only issue is that the school is a plane ride away...or 11-12 hour ride. So far away from me...boo hoo.

The school looks great, everybody I have spoken with at the school have been overly helpful and friendly. We know a bunch of people that have sent their kids ton this University and all thumbs up.
With 1 1/2 years to go.....better sell more patch cables!

So here we go....wish us luck!

Porkulis Bill....not cool

In the next few days the Senate and the House will come to terms with a negotiated bill. The sad part....they are both bad bills. They are both full of pork. I have not read them yet and plan only to read the final bill that the President signs. I have heard one ad that the Senate porked up an additional 15 million for a personal pet project for Senator Spector's vote. He along with two other republicans crossed the line. I am sure the other two got some pig sandwiches too.

I hope all of you cool aid drinkers read the bill. I hope you all see that O'bamas change is over and we are back to the Government trying to run our lives....Who ever is in power...using their power to grab as much for their buddies as possible.

Help in the car wash....really??? .....not cool

Stopped at the car wash yesterday. It's one of those fully automated car washes. You first speak to a computer to select and pay for the wash and then you drive in until the 10 foot sign says STOP ...PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL. The system then pulls your car through the wash. I am sure all of you have been in one of these car washes. Pretty easy and self explainable......Right?

I guess the owner must of gotten complaints that the directions were too hard??? maybe too confusing....??

If you can believe this...they had a guy standing at the entrance of the car wash and directed you to pull forward....to just the right spot and then give you the big OK sign.

If you cannot make it through the car wash...with the 10 foot signs (that light up BTW)....you should not have a car.

Supreme Court Position...openning?......

Although the news coverage has been monopolized by the "porkulis" bill, a really important thing is happening on the Supreme Court. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg announced that she had contracted pancreatic cancer. No matter who gets this awful disease, our prays are with them and their families. I wish her a fast recovery.

On the other hand, the justice is 75 years old. This may push her to retire from the bench. I am sure President Obama's plan for his first nominee was not to replace one of his own. It will be really interesting and very revealing if we are able to have him replace one of the judges in his first year. The chances Justice Ginsburg would be still on the bench in 4/8 years is questionable anyway.

Obama's 2nd crook backs out.....cool!

Tom Daschle withdrew Tuesday as President Barack Obama's nominee to be health and human services secretary. HOORAY!!!! Too bad Obama did not ask this tax evader to leave and get some brownie points with his peeps. (am I cool with the lingo or what....ya gotta give me props for that!)

First Timothy Geithner gets caught not paying taxes....and next thing ya know, he is the Treasury Secretary. (Is that not the most ironic thing?...we are rerally stupid Americans). Then we have Tom Daschle not payuing taxes.....and again Obama stands by his guy.

If you or I do not pay our taxes, we would be put in jail. Not for the elite however, they get promoted. I am sure the tax issue was just the tip of the iceberg for Daschle.

Let's hope Obama stops selecting crimminals to help run our government.

Super Bowl was super....cool

OK so the Cardinals did not win...But the main reason for me rooting for them was Curt Warner. He had a GREAT Game and in my opinion secured himself a spot in the Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Pittsburgh. This superbowl was a win-win for almost everyone.

The fans saw a great game

The advertisers had everyone glued to the game to the end!

Kurt had an outstanding game

All is well in football heaven with me this morning!
