Hotel Austria in Vienna is a great place........if you can find it. It took us 3 1/2 hours to find our hotel from the airport. It's 15 miles away!!!! We rented a car for the week. Vienna makes Boston look like a one road town. This is one of the worst cities to drive in. Let's start with that I'm driving a clown car. A small peugeot standard. I feel like I'm in the Bourne series driving this thing. The roads are very skinny and nobody watches when they cross the road. It's amazing these people do not get picked off more often. The city is full of crazy drivers, mindless pedestrians, one way roads, construction and closed roads and the worst No Street Signs. Of course cheap pete does not get the gps and dopey pete forgets that his gps on his phone is useless without a connection. So it's now pete and denise jumping in and out of the car asking people directions like we are on a scavenger hunt. We must look so desparate that Rhino ( my new austian friend) actually gets in our car and takes us to our hotel. It takes another 15 minutes and we were only 2 streets away. Rhino has been living here 20 years and he sympathizes with us and let's us know we are not the idiots we think we are.
Never mind the whole time denies and I are rationally discussing the situation. Quietly, calmly like two expierenlced travelers......yea right
Ok, we are off to Gaming Austria this morning.
