Earthquake in the Midwest...no damage...cool

A 5.2 quake hit at 4:37 this morning. Tons of after shocks including a 4.5. So far no one was hurt and minimal if any damage. It happened out in the countryside of Illinois. I didn't hear or feel a thing....but my 15 year old was awaken as her bed shook and my wife was awakened by it. A lot of my co-workers felt their houses shake....5.2 is pretty big....in fact..

The largest earthquake in the US outside of Alaska was in 1811 in New Madrid Missouri. That's a good trivia question for you. Most think California is home to the earthquake, when in fact Alaska is. 12 out of the top 13 largest earthquakes took place in Alaska. #7 on the list was the one in Missouri. It happened again in New Madrid in 1812, but was only a 7.8!!!!!! making it #20 on the list.

There is your US news and facts for the day.....go ahead and have a great Friday.
