Finally Found it

I grew up with a big extended Italian family.  Loud, funny and always eating.  My favorite of all time meals was my granmother’s managot…….OK...Manacotti for you who call macaroni ; pasta.

I have vivid memories of going to Nat Nat’s on Sunday.  Joining all my cousins, Aunts and Uncles and others that we always thought were relatives for the Sunday feast.  I can still remember coming into her house, which was made up of mostly a kitchen and smelling the sweet smell of managot.   (OK, I do not need any of my Italian counterparts to point out that managot is not spelled that way….just say it out loud...and that’s how I spell it….so forgetaboutit)

OK anyway, I have been ordering this dish most of my entire adult life trying to match Nat Nats dish.  It was always a let down.  But not tonight!  This restaurant was in the “failiy” for 36 years and their version of Nat Nat was still cooking all the dishes.

The managot was unbelievable.  The shells were perfectly cooked ….but what makes it is the cheese.  Most places do not cook it long enough and the cheese is bad...not gritty...but not as smooth as it should be.  The dish I ate last night was like drinking liquid gold.

It was great!  Of course we had to go meet the Nat Nat of Positano.  No English, but her daughter let her know and we left her with a big smile on her face.

Oh yea….the pear and ricotta cake...it was outstanding….but I would of traded it for another managot.

Ciao
