Italy the same????

Who hasn’t romanticized about going to Italy?

I am on my third week here and thought I would give you an overview of how my fantasy has come back to earth.  Italy along with everywhere else on this planet is just another country that has an array of people with economic differences.

I guess I was naive.

As I flew into Rome and trained up to Cinque Terre I thought….wow this is a poor country….and what’s with all the graffiti.  It was unbelievably bad.  I thought If I was back in the US….I would stay out of this area.  Than I went flew into Catania in Sicily; It looked like a combat zone.  It was basically a broken down city.  Again, back in the states you would not take time to visit this area.

On the other hand, The places we selected to stay and visit have been beautiful and interesting.
So what the hell am I talking about ?…..

I am not sure….it’s just the reality that wherever you go ….it’s the same.  Sure Italy is different than St Louis, but in respect to everyday life and economics, we share more than we are different.
