We got a late start as I mentioned in the bus post. We didn’t get to Ravello until 1:30 or so. This is one of the interior towns on the Almafi coast. It’s a much smaller town. It did have a few really cool things to see:
We went to Villa Rufolo…..a 13th century villa built by some rich guy…..Mr. Rufolo. In its day it had over 350 rooms on the estate. It was a really cool “castle”. We also went to the cathedral. The “Duomo”, which every town has, was a beautiful church. Its built on a slope….and instead of leveling things out, this church slants from the front doors to the alter slightly.
This is a town in which you can visit in about 3 hours. It’s very small….but that didn’t stop us from dropping way to much money on some very cool dishware. We have been eyeing this stuff throughout Italy. Most places are retailers in the towns we were visiting. The place we bought from was the actual studio. We hung out with Paco and his wife, got the back story and than got sucked into buying some of their wares. Great stuff....I am sure will have a picture on facebook for you.
Nice little town, was worth the trip….but get a private bus or car to bring you there….don’t take the public bus!
