Drive to Vegas....very cool!

So after our 2 mile hike we start the drive to Death Valley!  We took Rout 395.  At the top of 395, right outside the park is a Mobil Station.  It's not just any Mobil Station...they had Chefs....a live band....and a trapeze set up (like in the circus, although it was not used when we were there.)

All the rangers told us to stop there for dinner...it was the best food around.  They could of told us it's the ONLY food around....not a thing from there to Bishop 70 miles away.  Anyway...I had the Bison meatloaf at $18.95....(should of been a steak at that price)  It was really , really GOOD...along with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled spaghetti squash.  It came on a REAL plate!

We then drove 70 miles and stopped in Bishop California.  The drive went from 10,000 elevation to about 4,000in about 10 miles....Instead of ll the crazy twisty curves....it was just a gradual slope straight down...it was very enjoyable.

Bishop California is a city of about 15,000 people.  It was a great little place.  I wish we could of stayed for the day.  It ha a great Bakery...it was huge and packed with stuff.  They had a Rodeo that was scheduled for that night....but the Tour could not be stopped.
