Washington Coast just OK

We dove the Washington Coast yesterday. We left Seattle about 9 and stopped in Astoria Oregon about 9pm.
The trip started out by crossing over the top of Washington from Seattle to Forks. We needed to take a ferry....80 bucks....Chris, Shelby and I hung out side for the 30 minute commute....it was COLD and of course misting. We then take 101 across to Forks. This might of been in the top 10 drives....unfortunately it was very foggy and it was raining. So foggy that when we were at the base of Mount Renier....we could not see it!!

Twilight is a first in a series of books based on vampires that live in Forks Washington. The little town of 2k is one of the wettest spots in the country. It receives over 130 inches of rain annually....yesterday was no exception. The town was a little dumpy town in the middle of nowhere. We took some pictures of the High School...The girls thought it was great. Then we had lunch and went to the other site that the book is based in...La Push. This is even a smaller town...but it's on the beach. Take a look at the pictures....crazy beach...tons of HUGE logs that have been thrown up on the beach....Cold and rainy....just another great spot along the way!!

We then Hightailed it down the coast to Astoria Oregon. We stopped in Ocean Park Washington....It looked like every other breach town on the coast of New Jersey....except for a few things.....It was a ghost town.....I know it's June but it was really deserted. The town was a full 2-3 beach blocks away fro the beach. Th hotels on the beach looked nice....but it was at least 200 yards to the water from the back edge of all the properties. It looked a lot like Daytone, with people driving their cars on the beach....only with the rain. It was really windy...so windy in fact that the sand stung your eyes.

The ride was pretty uninteresting. The highway system does not ride along he Ocean. It drives through average looking forest. There are a few spots where the ride was cool....but for the most part it was dull.

I was surprised how mountainous the drives was being sop close to the coast.
