We will be spending the next few days at this great park. The first thing you become aware of in this park ….is it’s size. It’s enormous. It takes 4-5 hours to cross from one side to the other. It set up alike like Epcot. A big Figure 8. The main difference is that Epcot is all fake and everything in YNP is real….and could be very dangerous.
We arrived late morning after taking care of the daily chores in Cody Wyoming. We then had to review all the rules of the park. They mostly had to do with BEARS. These are not nice Yogi Bears…they are real big, smelly, mean and aggressive bears. At least that’s what I heard the lady say at the visitor station.
We spent 5-6 hours touring the lower loop of the park. The one word that comes to mind while looking at the scenery is strange. In one stretch you run through endless pine trees…then you break out into fields of desolate geyser fields. The fields were very strange. It felt like you were on another planet. It’s impossible to describe. Take a look at the photos we posted. Link is on the top left of the blog. The lake in YNP is like an Ocean. Today it was a sheet of ice and snow. That’s right snow…..there was 5-6 foot drifts up against the road. It was mid forties today, snowing, sleeting and raining at times.
Great Day, got back to site about 7…. dinner and a movie and off to bed.
